Summary:
Texas Government Code, Chapter 791, Interlocal Cooperation Act and Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 271, Subchapter F. Cooperative Purchasing Program, authorize local governments to enter into interlocal agreements with other governmental agencies to participate in their cooperative purchasing program. The City is a member of several purchasing cooperatives, such as the H-GAC, BuyBoard, Texas Department of Information Resources (TXDIR), Tarrant County, Purchasing Solutions Alliance (PSA), and the General Services Administration (GSA). Purchasing cooperatives typically focus on a slightly different type of vendor or product base (e.g., technology, vehicles, services, etc.), but each provides governmental and public entities a unique opportunity for greater efficiency and economy in procuring goods and services.
At this time, authorization is requested to participate in the ESC Region 19 Allied States Cooperative.

There is no cost to join this purchasing coop.
Recommended action:
Approve the resolution authorizing the City of Deer Park to participate in the ESC Region 19 Allied States Cooperative.
