Title
Consideration of and action on approving an amendment to the FY 2016-2017 Deer Park Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District Budget for the refurbishment of one ambulance.
Body
Summary:
The refurbishment of one ambulance was included in the adopted budget; however, the project will cost more than the budgeted amount. This overage was caused by several factors, including:
• New safety requirements being incorporated into the module upgrade
• Existing module is older than the module upgraded last year, and requires more
• Existing chassis is gas-powered and being replaced with a diesel-powered chassis. (This standardizes our fleet, all four ambulances, with the same diesel-powered chassis.)
We will also use the existing chassis as a trade-in. The existing chassis is owned by the City of Deer Park, so the trade-in allowance will be paid directly to the City of Deer Park in exchange for the chassis ownership.
The adopted budget includes $120,000 for this project. The final quote from the manufacturer is for a total amount of $142,050, less the trade-in allowance of $4,000. The total budget amendment will be $22,050; thereby allowing for the full price of the refurbishment as well as the trade-in payment to the City of Deer Park.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
$22,050
