Title

Consideration of and action on an ordinance amending the FY 2016-2017 Deer Park Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District Budget for the refurbishment of one ambulance.

Body

Summary:

On January 16, 2017, the FCPEMSD Board approved a budget amendment to the FY 2016-2017 Deer Park Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District Budget in the amount of $22,050 for the refurbishment of one ambulance.  While an amount of $120,000 for the refurbishment was included in the FY 2016-2017 Deer Park Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District Budget, the final cost will exceed the budgeted amount due to new safety requirements and, given the age of the module being upgraded, more work than anticipated to complete the refurbishment.  Additionally, the existing gas-powered chassis is being replaced with a diesel-powered chassis to standardize the fleet of four ambulances.  The existing gas-powered chassis will be used as a trade-in and has a trade-in value of $4,000.  Because the existing chassis is a City asset, the District owes that $4,000 amount to the City.  On January 16, 2017, the FCPEMSD Board also took action to authorize that reimbursement to the City.  The proposed amendment of $22,050 includes the $4,000 reimbursement to the City.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

Add $22,050 to the FY 2016-2017 Deer Park Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District Budget for the refurbishment of one ambulance, which includes a reimbursement to the City of Deer Park for the trade-in value of the gas-powered chassis (Account #83-305-4907, Large Trucks/Heavy Rolling Stock), to be funded by the prior year revenues of the District, which are available for this purpose.

Recommended action
