Consideration of and action on a recommendation to approve authorization to seek bids for a contractor to construct the Soccer Field Development Project.

Summary:
On February 16, 2016, the City Council approved Task Order #3 with Halff Associates for the Soccer Field Development - Phase 1: Feasibility Study. Halff Associates presented the feasibility study to the Deer Park Community Development Corporation for their recommendation on April 25th and to the City Council for their acceptance on May 3rd. The Council also authorized Task Order #3B, providing architectural services for the design and construction oversight. Since then the architects, ad-hoc committee and staff have been working through the construction design process to finalize the plans and specification to go out for bid.
The architects, ad-hoc committees and staff are recommending that we seek bids for both the soccer and softball projects together to hopefully get the best possible price for these projects since they are similar.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Funding will come from the dedicated one-half of one percent sales and use tax for Type B projects, the development of a Soccer Field Complex has been appropriated $4,000,000 of the dedicated funds.
Recommended action:
Recommend approval to City Council for authorization to seek bids for a contractor to construct the Soccer Field Development Project.
