Consideration of and action on a recommendation to approve authorization to seek bids for a contractor to construct the renovations of the girls’ softball facilities at the Youth Sports Complex.

Summary:
On August 2, 2016, the City Council approved Task Order #6 with Halff Associates for the renovations of the girls’ softball facilities at the Youth Sports Complex. October 24th, the DPCDC approved the conceptual design and then was approved by the City Council on November 1st. Since then the architects, ad-hoc committee and staff have been working through the construction design process to finalize the plans and specification to go out for bid.
The architects, ad-hoc committees and staff are recommending that we seek bids for both the soccer and softball projects together to hopefully get the best possible price for these projects since they are similar.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
For the softball project, funding will come from the dedicated one-half of one percent sales and use tax for Type B projects, the renovations of the girls’ softball facilities at the Youth Sports Complex has been appropriated $3,000,000 of the dedicated funds.
Recommended action:
Recommend approval to City Council for authorization to seek bids for a contractor to construct the renovations of the girls’ softball facilities at the Youth Sports Complex.
