Title

Discussion of issues relating to a recommendation from the Historical Committee to accept the donation of the “Shell Wall” as a museum display at the Court and Theatre Building.

Body

Summary:

As part of the City’s 125th Celebration Concert on Saturday, November 4th, Shell created the “Shell Experience,” a pop-up museum which featured the past, present and future of the Shell Deer Park site and the City as a whole. One of the exhibits at the “Shell Experience” was the 8’ x 8’ “Shell Wall” which explains the partnership between Shell and the City of Deer Park since 1929, and includes a monitor showing historical photos. Shell offered to donate this wall to serve as a museum display at the Court and Theatre Building. The Historical Committee discussed this at its November 6, 2017 meeting and recommends that the City accept this donation. It will be placed in the south side of the entry vestibule to the building. Slight modifications to the wording on the wall will be made and the Historical Committee will be working with Shell to make sure the photos displayed on the monitor have subtitles explaining the historical significance.
