Title

Discussion of issues relating to the purchase and installation of five (5) electronic marquee message signs from National Signs.

Body

Summary:

On March 6, 2018 Council approved the purchase of five (5) electronic marquee message signs from National Signs under Buy board contract #512-16. The four (4) existing signs marquee signs were removed and at this writing all five (5) signs, including the animal shelter, have been installed. National Signs provided three crews to install the five (5) signs and finished the project several weeks earlier than anticipated. The City will be providing the electrical connection and landscaping.

The project cost came in at $29,000 less than what was budgeted (13% savings). The savings were due to discounts received from National Signs from their suppliers (for the five signs) and those saving were passed on to the City. Staff was very pleased with the professionalism, training, support and follow through of National Signs team.

Attached are the approved designs and photos of the actual signs after installation.

As previously discussed, these signs are not part of the Wayfinding program, but the design is complimentary and consistent with the Wayfinding design. Also, National Signs is a different company than National Sign Plaza, which is the provider of the Wayfinding signs.
