Title

Authorization for the City to accept bids for the liquidation of the surplus furniture and fixtures in the existing City Hall as a wholesale lot and approval for the City Manager to award the bid for the sale of this surplus furniture and fixtures to the highest bidder for the lot.

Body

Summary:

Due to the contract timeline for razing the existing City Hall, the surplus furniture and fixtures (list attached) need to be sold as soon as possible.  The most expeditious way to liquidate this surplus furniture and fixtures is to sell it as a wholesale lot.  On February 6, 2018, City Council authorized the disposal of the surplus property in the existing City Hall, and based on that authorization, the City will advertise for bids for the sale of this surplus property by wholesale lot on May 16, 2018 and May 23, 2018, with bids due on May 31, 2018 at 2:00 PM.  To accommodate the time constraints involved in the disposal of this surplus property, the City requests authorization for the City Manager to award the bid or reject all bids for the sale of this surplus furniture and fixtures.  The furniture must be picked up by 5:00 PM on June 8, 2018.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

Any proceeds from the sale of surplus property are recorded as revenue in the General Fund, Account No. 10-000-3614, Sale of Surplus Materials.

Recommended action:

Authorize the City Manager to award the bid for the liquidation of the surplus furniture and fixtures in the existing City Hall to the highest bidder for the lot.
