Summary:
On December 5, 2017, City Council authorized emergency repairs to a 12-inch sanitary sewer line due to a break under the median on Center Street between 11th and 12th Street. At the time of this authorization, the cost of these emergency repairs was not known. Vaught Services was working on another sanitary sewer project for the City at that time, and the City requested a quote for these emergency repairs. Vaught Services provided a quote of $68,815.00 for the work to repair about 120’ of sanitary sewer line (note: Vaught Services is on the Buy Board). While it was the City’s intent to follow-up with a budget amendment once a cost for these emergency repairs was known, that was overlooked. A budget amendment in the amount of $68,815.00 is needed to cover the cost of the emergency repairs to the 12-inch sanitary sewer line due to a break under the median on Center Street between 11th and 12th Street.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
Increase the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Water & Sewer Fund Budget by $68,815.00 (Account 40-501-4410, Sanitary Sewers & Lift Station Maintenance) to be funded by the contingency line item included in the Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Water & Sewer Fund. Contingency funds are available for this purpose.
