Summary:
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact: The air conditioner at the Fleet Maintenance Building is very old and in need of replacement. Last year the unit did not cool as well as it should have, but the replacement was not budgeted in the current fiscal year as the thought was the air conditioner could continue to operate one more year. Currently budgeted renovations are taking place at the Fleet Maintenance Building. With the walls coming down, areas of the ceiling have been opened up and while the City's electrical crew was performing the budgeted renovations, they determined that now would be the best time to replace the air conditioner rather than waiting until next year and then having to re-open the newly renovated walls and ceiling.
This air conditioner replacement could be completed in-house at a total cost of approximately $5,000.00. Parts and supplies would be purchased through Insco Distributing, Inc. for $4,380.00. An additional $500 to $700 may be needed for additional miscellaneous expenses associated with the renovations.
The Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Budget for Fleet Maintenance includes $15,500.00 for building maintenance (Account 10-404-4404). The City is requesting a budget amendment in the amount of $5,000.00 to complete the replacement of the air conditioner at the Fleet Maintenance Building as part of the existing renovations to the building.
Fiscal Budget Impact:
Increase the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Fleet Maintenance budget for the additional $5,000.00 to complete the replacement of the air conditioner at the Fleet Maintenance Building (Account 10-404-4409, Air Conditioner Repair and Maintenance) to be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the General Fund, which is available for this purpose.
