Consideration of and action on authorizing the purchase of replacement irrigation pump station at Battleground Golf Course from Zone Industries, DBA Precision Pump Systems through Buy Board Contract #589-19 for the Battleground Golf Course.
Summary
At the June 18, 2019 City Council Workshop, staff reported on several issues related to the pump station that feeds water to the irrigation system and water features at the Battleground Golf Course. Once the source of the problem was uncovered, staff worked with Touchstone to determine the scope of work necessary to repair or replace the pumps. Staff has been in contact with several vendors to discuss the best permanent solution in order to identify available options and a final recommendation. The City has received a quote of $241,340.55 from Precision Pump Systems (a BuyBoard vendor effective July 1, 2019) to replace the pumps, but that does not include additional system incidentals such as a new slab, subgrade work, metering, light grading, demolition of current building structure, additional pipes, wet well cover, and valves, etc. The City estimates a total cost of $275,000.00 for the purchase of the pumps and incidentals, including a contingency.
Because these issues with the pump station were not contemplated as part of the current year's budget, it is necessary to amend the Fiscal Year 2018-2019 General Fund budget in the amount of $275,000.00 to accommodate this purchase, to be funded by the unassigned fund balance of the General Fund. A separate agenda item (ORD 19-045) is included on the July 2, 2019 Council Agenda to amend the FY 2018-2019 Budget for this purpose.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact
The Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Golf Course Lease Fund budget will be increased by the amount of $275,000.00 for the replacement of the irrigation pump station at Battleground Golf Course (Account 084-703-4904, Machinery & Equipment).
