Summary:
The City of Deer Park operates its RMS/CAD system through a consortium which is hosted in League City. The RMS/CAD system is critical to the daily operations of the Police Department. Currently the city has a single fiber line to League City (LaPorte) for the RMS/CAD system. This proposal is for the one-time cost upgrade of an additional fiber line. The additional line from Phonoscope will serve as a backup and mitigate any future outages. If the main line fails then the additional line would automatically become active. The upgrade will take approximately 90-120 days to complete. Procurement is sole source for this upgrade as only Phonoscope can provide the upgrade with no future monthly cost.
Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
The one-time cost is not to exceed $58,500.00 and will be paid from the 2019-2020 CCPD Budget, Capital Outlay Fund, Account# 820-300-4904.
Recommended action
Staff recommends approving the purchase of the fiber line upgrade.
