Presentation and update on Deer Park Parks and Recreation Summer Operations

Summary:
The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the daily lives our citizens and community. The Parks and Recreation Department has taken measures to modify programming to meet the needs of citizens during these uncertain times.
The Department is following various guidelines and recommendations provided by federal, state, county, and local elected and health officials to provide recreational and leisure opportunities for the community. These guidelines have impacted operations to:
• 4th of July
• Concerts and Movies in the Park
• Maxwell Center
• Dow Park Pool
• Earl Dunn gym
• City parks
• Recreational programs
• Theatre programs and classes
• Athletic Facilities
The Department continues to review and modify programs and services so as to meet these guidelines. Examples of modifications include:
• Limiting attendance to 25% as required by state guidelines
• Enhanced frequency and practicing of sanitization and cleaning measures by staff
• Implementing social distancing guidelines through education and signage
• Encouragement of wearing a face covering
• Moving recreational equipment to promote physical distancing
• Modification of operating hours
• Providing hand sanitizer for patrons
