Body

Summary:

The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the daily lives our citizens and community. The Parks and Recreation Department has taken measures to modify programming to meet the needs of citizens during these uncertain times.

The Department is following various guidelines and recommendations provided by federal, state, county, and local elected and health officials to provide recreational and leisure opportunities for the community. These guidelines have impacted operations to:

                     4th of July

Concerts and Movies in the Park

                     Maxwell Center

                     Dow Park Pool

                     Earl Dunn gym

                     City parks

                     Recreational programs

                     Theatre programs and classes

                     Athletic Facilities

The Department continues to review and modify programs and services so as to meet these guidelines. Examples of modifications include:

Limiting attendance to 25% as required by state guidelines

Enhanced frequency and practicing of sanitization and cleaning measures by staff

Implementing social distancing guidelines through education and signage

Encouragement of wearing a face covering

Moving recreational equipment to promote physical distancing

                     Modification of operating hours

                     Providing hand sanitizer for patrons

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:
