Title

Acceptance of Change Order #1 for City of Deer Park - Project No.: 3724-18a - Heritage Addition Drainage Project - to install a temporary access driveway, including tree clearing, removal of driveway and restoration.

Body

Summary:

The project consists of drainage improvements in the Heritage Addition Subdivision near the intersection of East Lambuth Lane and Jefferson Avenue. Just before construction it was determined that in order to accommodate traffic congestion around Dabbs Elementary school, it would be necessary to construct a temporary access driveway for removal of excavation soil for the proposed detention pond. The temporary access driveway will provide ingress and egress for the contractor across privately owned property to the west of the proposed detention pond site and on to Center Street. Because the detention pond will take approximately 3-months to excavate, with 50- to 100-truck loads of soil to be removed per day, this access road is necessary to prevent project delays and accommodate Deer Park Independent School District (DPISD) students and parents. The land for the detention pond was acquired from DPISD and the City would like to minimize disruptions to their operations and be good stewards of this property acquisition. A copy of the proposed Change Order #1 is attached for your reference.

This Change Order #1 will total $62,594.55. The Total Project Contract cost, with Change Order #1 included, will be $2,052,333.64.
