Consideration of and action on authorization to submit a Public Assistance (PA) grant application to FEMA for reimbursement of eligible expenses during the recent winter weather disaster.

Summary: 

The recent winter weather has been declared by the President as a major disaster in Harris County, Texas as DR-4586.  This allows FEMA to administer Public Assistance (PA) reimbursement Grants for eligible expenses. 

The FEMA PA grant provides provide up to 75% in federal reimbursement for the eligible expenses incurred. The remaining 25% must be provided by local funds.

The deadline for submitting a Request for Public Assistance Grant Application is March 21, 2021.

 

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact: 

This FEMA PA grant is authorized to provide up to 75% in federal reimbursement of eligible expenses incurred. 

 

Recommended action

Staff requests that Council provide authorization to submit a Public Assistance (PA) grant application to FEMA.
