Title

Consideration of and action on renewing the contract with Carus LLC Corporation for the Sodium Hexametaphosphate for the Water Treatment Plant.

Body

Summary:

On July 1, 2020, the City entered into a contract with Carus LLC Corporation to provide the Sodium Hexametaphosphate for the Water Treatment Plant.  The contract was for one-year with the option to renew for one additional year.  The current contract expires on June 30, 2021.  This year represents the only renewal option on the current contract, and at this time, both the City and Carus LLC are agreeable to this one-year extension of the contract.  Due to the continuous rise in market conditions, transportation disruptions and demand, Carus LLC has proposed a $0.10 increase as follows.

Current Contract - 50,000 units @ $0.88/lb

Proposed Contract - 50,000 units @ $0.98/lb

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

These chemicals are budgeted in the Water/Sewer Fund - Water Treatment Plant (Account No. 400-503-43160 - Chemicals).

Recommended action:

Renew the contract with Carus LLC for the Sodium Hexametaphosphate for the Water Treatment Plant.
