Summary:
As a result of Winter Storm Uri in February 2021, extensive damage occurred to the irrigation system at the Battleground Golf Course due to the freezing temperatures and power outage. Water inside the pumps and piping froze resulting in extensive damage to the pumps, valves and piping of the entire irrigation system. The damaged pumps as well as the entire piping system needs to be replaced in order to restore the system to its original condition. The system is fairly new and the original vendor, Precision Pump Systems, is able to complete the replacement most expeditiously. The cost to replace the pump, motor base, piping and valves is $136,751.00 (order acknowledgement is attached). This purchase is pursuant to Sec. 252.022(3) of the Texas Local Government Code, which exempts competitive bidding for “a procurement necessary because of unforeseen damage to public machinery, equipment, or other property.” This replacement is covered by the City’s TML property and casualty insurance policy, and the City has already received proceeds from the claim.

The $136,751.00 cost of the replacement pump system is covered by insurance, and the City has already received proceeds from the claim.
