Title

Consideration of and action on a resolution to name the City owned park property, a 4.5663 acre tract of land out of Lot 12, of Iowa Gardens Subdivision, to “Glenwood Park”.

Body

Summary:

The need to officially name City park property, a 4.5663 acre tract of land out of Lot 12, of Iowa Gardens Subdivision, generally located at 4413 Glenwood Ave to the North of Cenikor and South of Glenwood Trails II.

In July of 2017, the City of Deer Park received a 4.5663 acre tract of land out of Lot 12, of Iowa Gardens Subdivision, Harris County, Texas for a City Park from Dean Lawther.

Since 2017, the City has maintained the property as undeveloped parkland located at 4413 Glenwood Ave. The City is now ready to begin looking at developing the land into a City park over the next several years. The first step in that process is to formally name the undeveloped parkland.

City staff has completed the naming application for the parkland. The name that is recommended on the application was recommended by the Parks and Recreation Commission at their September 2021 regular meeting.

This item was also discussed during City Council Workshop on November 16, 2021.

Attached to this item is a copy of the proposed resolution.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

No fiscal impact is expected from the approval of this resolution. City of Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department is currently maintaining the property through utilization of general funds via the approved FY21-22 budget.
