Title

Discussion of issues relating to the purchase of Electronic Marquee Signs from Daktronics to be purchased under Buy board Contract #592-19 for the EMS Building and Fire Station 3.

Body

Summary:

In the February 18, 2020 workshop, staff discussed the purchase of an electronic marquee sign for the EMS and Fire Station 3 buildings. Staff was instructed by Council to gather more information and return to workshop at a future date.

Staff has investigated concerns and is now ready to share those findings as well as answer any other questions that Council may have.

Staff has met with National Signs new CEO Cody Johnson and Daktronics representatives. Both National Signs and Daktronics are still recommending the sign that was discussed at the February 18th workshop.

Daktronics has worked with National Signs and its suppliers to submit revised lower quote for consideration. The new quote offers the City a one-time lower price of $89,665.00 compared to its original quote of $93,150.00 presented at the February 18 meeting.

Fiscal/Budgetary Impact:

The New EMS/FS3 electronic marquee is budgeted in FY 2019-20 under the EMS Capital Improvements Fund in the amount of $75,000.00. The additional $16,665.00 will be funded from the Capital Improvements Fund used for the construction of the EMS building (city’s portion) which has a current balance of $196,613.25.
